Pinterest Inspiration

I like to browse Pinterest while I'm having my morning coffee.  So inspiring!  Here are a few things I found today that are going on my 'try it' list...

Roasted carrot soup.  You've got to love it when simple things you already have on hand blend together (literally!) to make something delicious.

Speaking of blending, the same blogger, Erin, recommends this blender.  It comes in a ton of crazy colors and is a fraction of the price of the you-know-which-blender I just can't bring myself to spend the money on...

Great.  Like Vegetarians and Vegans don't have enough to worry about.  If they find out vegetables feel pain we're really in trouble.

Turn an old dresser into a backpack and shoe holder.  Brilliant!  Two things that are always in the wrong place.  Wish I had room for this one.

I have this cute retro food poster framed in my kitchen.

Then there are always the Pinterest "noes".  That's the plural of no, I looked it up.

I want a purple door!

And, my daily inspiration quote.

Tom Robbins

I'm sure I've blogged about this before, but my favorite author of all time is Tom Robbins.  I don't say this lightly.  I have many, many loves in the book department but I'd have to take my Tom Robbins books to that desert island.  I picked up "Another Roadside Attraction" sometime in the late seventies, at probably the lowest point in my life.  I judged it by the cover, but how could I not?

I would say that Tom Robbins (and perhaps some dabbling in psychedelic drugs) taught me to think differently.  To question everything and believe magic is real.  For that I am eternally grateful.

I bring this up because I tried to read "Jitterbug Perfume" a few days ago and it fell apart in my hands as I turned the pages.

The copies I have now aren't even my originals.  They wore out years ago.  These copies have been through my three daughters and I countless times...

Imagine how thrilled I was when I came across this on-line!  Turns out it's an art project or something though and not a real thing.  It definitely should be.  These are the books I would want too.  The later ones not so much...

In case you're not familiar with Tom Robbins, here are a few quotes I love...

subversively yours,

P.S.  I'd have to take my Steely Dan albums too but that's a different story...

Champing - Camping in Churches

Talk about learning something new every day!  I just stumbled upon 'champing' -  camping in churches.  It seems to be a UK thing that apparently 'took the world by storm in 2015' and is THE holiday trend for 2017.  At least according to the people trying to sell it.

I know from travelling to Britain that there are many unused old churches.  There are places, especially in Scotland, with more churches turned into pubs and flats than actual churches.

So, some enterprising soul looked at all of these ancient and empty churches and took the leap from 'glamping' to 'champing'.  Ahem (as opposed to amen)...

So, I can only speak from my own personal experience, and I would have to say that while there may be people who could romp about and then snuggle in for a good night's sleep in a church, they're not Catholic.

As a matter of fact, my computer froze when I was trying to add these images and I take that as a sign from you-know-who to stop all this foolishness and frivolity...
