We spent a few days in Waco, Texas after Christmas. I know. Why? Well, the attraction for us there is that it's the home of the HGTV show "Fixer Upper". We really like the show and are fans of the found item/ flea market treasure style of decorating. Chip and Joanna Gaines come across as very nice, likable people. Funny, cute, and family oriented! I had read that they were redoing a property downtown which would include a retail shop. Waco is about 3 hours from here so we headed out...
The property is called "The Silos" for obvious reasons. I read that they have received permission to leave the silos themselves as-is. The ultimate in shabby chic!
They've totally redone this huge building. It's an amazing renovation that houses the gorgeous retail space, a warehouse and offices. The big lawn with tons of picnic tables and food trucks make it a very family friendly place to visit.
Here are our Grandchildren. Climbing is always the best way to explore!
This is another little building they plan to turn into a bakery. Yes, that's the line-up to get in!
The line went really fast though and we had fun chatting with this couple in front of us.
The shop is cute. Rustic, shabby chic, etc. Lots of natural wood and rusty metal!
We bought some natural wood and rusty metal...
This is how Joanna uses the crates in her own farmhouse. I think ours will be a useful item.
Lots more about Magnolia Market and The Silos here.
If you're thinking of visiting Waco, we stayed at the Hotel Indigo. Very comfortable and close to everything.
Have a peaceful and creative New Year!
