Bohemian Door Curtain

Today I was taking some photos of this red lace door curtain to sell in my Etsy shop.  What better place to show it than in a door, right?

I spent hours outlining the flowers with glitter to give it some gypsy sparkle...

Now that it's hanging in my door I've decided to keep it.  I love touches of red in a room.  It only remains to be seen if my husband can navigate his way through it without getting caught up in the lace...

Leopard Love

If it's cold where you are, how about a vintage leopard coat (faux, of course!)?  Here's my sister perfecting the look -

She's super-stylish - I'm not sure I could pull it off.  I can dream though so I went looking on Etsy and found  these gorgeous vintage coats...

What do you think?  Too wild or is "leopard a neutral" as Jenna Lyons says?

A Thing for Owls

Owls were popular back in the 70's and seem to be making a comeback.  I've just listed this stoneware candle holder in my Etsy shop.  It's very hippie chic...

I found this knitting pattern on Pinterest.  Isn't it super-cute?

off to knit...

Buddha Bowls

A perfect winter supper - the Buddha bowl!

My daughter made this one from Vegenista last night and LOVED it.  Can't wait to make ours...

The idea of a Buddha bowl is a lightly seasoned grain, some chopped veggies (cooked or raw), some beans for protein and a delicious sauce.  For vegans and vegetarians, the possibilities are endless...

This quinoa Buddha bowl looks amazing too

If you want to take it to the next level - and I always want to take it to the next level - you can order these special Buddha bowls here.

Off to roast my veggies...

Jonathan Adler Inspiration

I love Jonathan Adler (and his partner Simon Doonan).  How can you not love someone with a decorating book titled "My Presciption For Anti-Depressive Living"?

I got this book out of the library the other day.  So happy!  So chic!

THEN...

Rummaging around one of my favorite thrift shops I find all of these Jonathan Adler-inspired treasures! How awesome is that?  (Jonathan has a thing for owls.)

Drama and Karma

So, I was sad to see these awful photos of Nigella Lawson with her creepy husband.

I don't know much about her but I love her cookbooks...

Her husband (rich) is this guy (rich) who wrote a book called:

Be the Worst You Can be: Life's Too Long for Patience and Virtue by Charles Saachi

That's all I need to know (don't care if you're rich).  Anyway, Nigella left him right away after these pictures so that's good.

Enter Trinny, as in -

I know about this bit because of this picture in Vanity Fair -

So, just to recap - He's 70 (rich) and was probably awful to his wife.  Trinny is 49 and divorced.  Ok.  She probably thinks he won't choke her (he will).  What about the butt picture though?  What Not To Wear...

I read that she's had problems with alcohol in the past.

Discuss among yourselves...

Mary's Book Club

Every Christmas my husband gives me a Barnes and Noble gift card.  I ADORE this gift.  Even though I'm a Barnes and Noble regular - it's so totally fun to go a little crazier than usual.  Here are my picks from today's shopping - (not quite as powerful as Oprah's book club!)

I've been a fan of Lloyd forever.  I know I live in a regular house but I still find this book so inspiring.  Once a hippie...

$17.99 for a magazine!!  This is why gift card time works for me!

British decorating magazines are my favorite and Homes and Antiques is my favorite of those...  I grab it without even looking inside!

If Walls Could Talk looks interesting - since HOME is the theme...

And two that I saw but will order much cheaper on Amazon

I know.  Reality.  Or not.  I walk the line...
