Rest and Relaxation

I notice that when I'm browsing decorating ideas on Pinterest, I'm really drawn to cozy beds.  I think this is because I have such trouble sleeping...

I attribute this to the fact that I come from a long line of world-class worriers.

I'm sure there are happy-go-lucky people in the world but they are not Scottish Cape Bretoners.

I guarantee I am not remotely related to anyone who was on the Titanic.  When the ship was declared 'unsinkable', my ancestors would have known it was going down...

When we are in Cape Breton on vacation my uncle calls daily with dire warnings.  Peril is everywhere.

Although his list of ways a ride-on lawn mower can kill you is impressive, my Aunt and I are no fools.  We both learned from the best - my grandmother.

When my first daughter was born my grandmother came to see us in the hospital.  I was sitting in a chair with the baby on my lap.  Grandma's first words - "Don't forget and get up.".

If the Cape Breton men were gadabouts with their coal mining and lobster fishing, the women were not.  They held it all together.  They expected the worst.  No shenanigans of any kind were encouraged.   And no one in my family has relaxed till this day...

Be careful - you just never know...

Ha ha ha!! Worrying is an artform, indeed :)
