Blue Mood

Today I'm thinking about all things blue.  I made these blue curtains for my Etsy shop -

They're called "Indigo Moon" and are here.

I love these beautiful bracelets at DoloresPetunia.

Blue denim shirts are my favorite!

Why Don't You...?

I keep wondering about these Boston bomber guys - what could they possibly have been thinking?  The words that keep coming up in the media are "radicalized" and "self-radicalized".  It seems now as if their Mother was even kind of going along with it.  If anyone in our family had decided to become "self-radicalized", our mother would have given us a good crack - yes, even at 19.

So, as usual, I'm trying to figure out why RADICAL had to equal BAD.  I'm proposing that we get radical this week!  Why don't you...

Drive in a RADICALLY kind manner.  Let EVERYONE go.  Stop for pedestrians.

Choose EXTREMELY good food for your family.

Dress RADICALLY you.  Wear what makes you happy.  Do not even THINK the words 'age appropriate'.

Go to an EXTREME amount of fuss when you set the table.  Use ALL the good stuff...

Decorate your kitchen in a RADICALLY personal way.  Say no to the tyranny of granite counter-tops and stainless steel appliances!

Be well-read.  This is EXTREMELY helpful in learning to be tolerant of  other people with different beliefs.

Be RADICALLY kind.

Boston

As citizens of the world, we get our news from BBC or Al Jazeera.  We know that explosions that kill people happen all over the world all the time.  More explosions.  More people killed.  Here in the US, some would say, we go totally overboard crazy about a single incident with far less loss of life...

Here's my thought about this.  May we always go totally overboard crazy about every single life lost to senseless violence.  We're not doing it nearly enough.

We should be ape-shit crazy about each and every life ended in any way that's wrong.

A little boy killed in Afghanistan should have the same value as a little boy killed in the US.  EVERYONE should lose their shit over it.

I'm sure Selena Gomez is a cute girl but I should not look at Yahoo for news and see whatever she's doing at this time.  I'm thinking it would be a really good idea to wake up.

Very thrilled!  I'm MAD about Spell and the Gypsy Collective!  I've been watching "The Eye Has To Travel", the fabulous documentary about Diana Vreeland so I'm MAD about everything...  xoxo

Thrift Score!

I found this great table for outside at a thrift store today.  It came with 5 chairs for $200.  It's metal with heavy granite tiles so I think it would have been quite expensive originally. I saw it when I first walked in but didn't want the chairs because we had just bought these new colorful ones.  After a while I noticed a lady talking to the store guys and realized she was trying to figure out what to do because she didn't want the table!

The goddess of thrifting was smiling on us!  She offered to pay $125 for the chairs and I paid $75 for the table.  We were both thrilled with our purchases and the store guys were really happy - it's a charity shop so big sales are important to them.

Off to have coffee on the deck  xoxo
