Boho Curtains from Vintage Saris

I've been making bohemian curtains from vintage saris for my Etsy shop.  I love the fabric and design of saris and am always looking for ways to re-use them.  My daughter came up with this idea...

Because of where the border design is on the sari, the trick is to take it apart and then sew it back together.  I cut it lengthwise down the middle then cut each long length in half.

Then I piece it back together so that the design matches - like this.

The sewing is not hard - it's mainly a matter of ironing ( a LOT of ironing) and measuring.

Our neighbor when we lived in New Orleans, the mystery writer Julie Smith, had a rainbow of saris covering a whole wall.  Isn't it gorgeous?

Focus on Fondue

I found this awesome fondue set at a thrift store -

So, of course, I'm thinking -FONDUE PARTY!

These two vintage cookbooks from poesty should come in handy...

I just listed this chip and dip bowl set and great fiberglass serving tray on my Etsy shop - perfect for a party!

I also listed these 70's Pyrex spice jars.  I DREAM of organizing my pantry with all cute jars and labels instead of boxes, cans and bags that fall out and kill you when the door opens...sigh!

I have to admit that my only actual memory of fondue from the 70's is a somewhat terrifying pot of hot oil and chunks of raw meat to dip in it.   That's not going to happen...

I think CHEEZE is the answer.  I like the sound of this recipe from Better With Veggies.

So, the menu is decided.  Now, what to wear??

An Indian Summer Blog

I would LOVE to go to India.  I think.  I'm obsessed with all things Indian...

the jewelry

the fabric

the food

the color

I would wear this...

and ride around in this all day, looking at gorgeous things...

It has been my experience, however, that the reality of travelling often does not resemble my vision...

Luckily, I follow "An Indian Summer" blog.  An Indian Summer was the first blog I ever really loved !  All of the inspiration without the crowds and that guy next to you on the plane who hogs the arm rest...  Look!

peace, love & papadums xoxo
