A Little Bit Obsessed With... BED

I had all kinds of ideas for a new blog post but I can't get the baby to go to sleep so what looks the most attractive to me tonight are these rooms...

He looks sleepy - let's hope...

The New Gypsies

Wonderful photographs of Gypsies and gypsy wagons by Iian McKell.

These would be the UK variety of gypsies who are not terribly popular with everyone.  I watched quite a bit about them on television the last time I was in England.  They get evicted from places a lot.

I'm sympathetic to the gypsies.  I would be though since I'm Scottish and Irish with strong gypsy tendencies in my own family.

Of course there are (at least) two sides to every story.  I know some of the stereotypes about gypsies seem unfair but I did have my wallet stolen one night in the French Quarter of New Orleans listening to a wild gypsy band...

Something from Something...

I love the idea of making things out of other things.  Recycling, upcycling, re-purposing - anything that keeps things from being thrown away.   There is no 'away'.

I've made curtains for my Etsy shop from vintage scarves, bits of lace and fabric, etc..   I have the materials for lots more curtains but I also want to sew and create altered clothing and accessories.

FashionRefashion is just the inspiration I needed.  LOOK!

I have to go sew now.  Do check out this gorgeous blog! xoxo

It's raining in Houston!  Well, not right this minute but it did rain and it is wet outside.  You can't imagine how happy we are!

The kids ran and danced and played until they were drenched.

We're having a drought in Texas.  The ground is parched, the houses are shifting and the trees are very unhappy.

This is downtown Houston.  Wet!

I know we need a lot more rain but I think the trees are feeling much better today.

So let's do our best rain dance and hope for more...

Creating Order Out of Chaos

Do you ever completely lose control of your creative space? I'm lucky enough to have a loft studio in our not so big house and I love it. As hard as I try though, it only seems to remain tidy for very short periods of time. After that, it looks like a bomb went off...

Seriously, a disaster area.

It reminds me of Rene Russo's studio in a movie that I love -

Yours, Mine and Ours (2005 version)

In the movie she didn't ever want her studio cleaned up.  In real life, I do.

So, I worked at it for two days.

Keep in mind this is a real space - unstaged if that's a word.  Painted hot pink because it's our 7 yr. old's favorite and home to two cats as evidenced by the 'cat scratch fever' on our desk chairs.

I have to have storage for all my Etsy items.

I organized all my shelves.

Thrift store furniture and Ikea boxes to organize all my sewing supplies.

So much better - but for how long?
