Some Etsy Favorites

Here are some of the things I'm currently coveting on Etsy.  LOOK!

I'd love to re-visit the 80's with this black lace jacket from Majik Horse.

The gorgeous packaging alone makes these candles from Midnight Gypsy Alchemy worth the reasonable price.  Give as gifts but keep some for yourself too!

I must have a place for this cool lamp from Zenful Goods.

I know I don't have a place for one of these stools from woodwoolstool but they're so cute.

I knitted a couple of cuff  bracelets for my shop with this silk sari ribbon from designtalentedone.  It's so beautiful - I need to think of more uses for it!

Just ordered this cuff from Babylon Sisters' sister's shop Trailer Park Gypsy.  Love the design!

Check out the fabulous creations at All Things Pretty.

Gotta get right with ...whoever

Did you find yourself swept up to heaven this past week-end?

I know, me either ...

Does this mean my Amex is still due?

I'm not really ready anyway.  I have not yet found the  fountain of youth...

and don't even understand the meaning of life.

But I'm seriously thinking, and I mean it this time, we better get right with god (GOD).

Just in case, let's get right with Buddha,

the Goddess,

Allah, who's just a symbol like Prince used to be I guess,

and Muhammed, who we're not even allowed to joke about...

Here in Houston we seem to have vast numbers of people who would be very deserving of getting sucked up (to heaven).

They just don't seem as nice as you'd think very holy people would be.

I've heard about "Texas hospitality" but you don't see much evidence of it in Houston.

I guess the true believers are at their best on Sundays actually IN church, which I don't get to see.

What if god - I mean GOD ( and all the rest of them) are watching all the time though?

A Glorified Post

I read in someone's Etsy shop awhile ago that it was just "a glorified flea market".  So, I've been thinking about the concept of "glorified".

If you're familiar with Another Roadside Attraction - and you should be - you'll remember that Amanda and John Paul Ziller's roadside attraction was a GLORIFIED hot dog stand.

You could say that Donald Trump is a GLORIFIED real estate salesman.

It's very popular to GLORIFY job titles.  I'd rather have the cash.

I was raised Catholic.  We're really big on GLORIFYING.

Actually, we GLORIFY the heck out of things, but that's another story.

I mean, the Rolling Stones are just a GLORIFIED rock band, right?

And, really, diamonds are just GLORIFIED rocks.

Those of you who have gay friends - and you should - know that gay men are really good at GLORIFYING everything.

So, I'm thinking that whatever we do today...

Let's take it over the top, shall we?

Rebellion

I'm thinking today about rebellion.   I heard a story this morning on the BBC news about a woman who's driving around in Saudi Arabia.  Apparently, women are not allowed to drive (or vote!) in Saudi Arabia.

She said she was just tired of waiting for a ride.  Rosa Parks was just tired too and look what happened there.  Ladies, start your engines...

A lot of people seem to need to rebel against their parents.  If your mother is very famous and glamourous...

you might have to go to great lengths to become your own person.

There has certainly been lots of rebellion in Ireland.

Hopefully things have finally been worked out.

Here's an idea I like - the old ladies' rebellion.

Last night at Brownies when our 7 year old was reciting the girl scout law she asked me, "What's authority?".  I said I'd tell her later.  Maybe I won't.

In Your Dreams

Stevie Nicks has a new album out!  I bought it yesterday and have only listened to it once so I don't have any definite opinions about it yet.

I guess I'm mostly just thrilled that she's 62 and still going strong.  Women of a certain age need all the inspiration we can get.

We also need all the fabric we can get.  I wish I could wear capes and gloves.

...and beautiful black gowns.

I LOVE that she keeps her hair long!

I read somewhere that she said the platform boots were killing her but the fans expect it.  Too bad fans, I'd be going with ballet flats if I were her.

Fantastic!
