A New Project

I've been thinking of adding another layer to my bedding.  I have two beautiful quilts that I love -

this is one of them...

I have it layered with this one - I did say I'm a maximalist.

I need a little more warmth and some texture so I'm going to knit a colorful afghan.  I know, how 70's, right ?  Here are some patterns that might work -

This one is really colorful but I'm not sure about the pattern.  I need to do it without really looking while I'm watching kids so maybe too complicated.

I like this but I'm not very good at seams so that might not work.  I'd rather do something in one piece.

On the other hand, this book looks so interesting I might have to learn how to sew squares together in a neat way.

I don't know how to crochet but this might be the inspiration I need to learn.

This was actually my original inspiration (from Anthroparodie).  OK, I'd leave out the wet moss.

I went to Hobby Lobby and bought this yarn but not in this color.  The color I have is called "Hope's Roses".  I think it will be perfect - I'll let you know.

Happy Buy Nothing Day!

For years in our family we have celebrated Buy Nothing Day the day after Thanksgiving.  It's not difficult since we fear Wal-Mart at the best of times and certainly wouldn't want to be trampled to death to save money on a television.

So, I think it's a great day to make something!

I've been collecting bits of fabric and lace to make these bohemian Christmas stockings.  The perfect project for today!

Have a happy and creative buy nothing day!

My Own Little Pinterest

First, I have to say that the idea for my title came from Stevie Nicks, who described her newest album as her "own little Rumours".  I love Stevie and I bought the album but I'll leave you to talk amongst yourselves about the comparison.  hint -  Rumours is really good.

I've recently discovered Pinterest and it's wonderful!  So much inspiration!  I have noticed a few reoccurring themes though and wanted to create some beautiful entries of my own.  Feel free to pin (or not).

A gentle reminder for the new mother (or grandmother).  I experienced this only this morning...

Bon Voyage

I fly quite a lot.  This is how I wish it looked.

This is how it actually looks -

We do have meals on international flights.  They don't look like this -

They actually look like this -

This is how we want to look on the plane -

This is not how we want to look -

Are there any beautiful celebrities on my flight?

No, I guess not.
