While we're on a romantic gypsy theme "Antique Gypsy", a shop in Brenham, Texas, is absolutely full of thrifty inspiration.

Love this color!
A gypsy theme.
Never pass up old shutters.  You can connect them to make a divider or just hang them as art.

An old wardrobe with the doors removed makes a great display cabinet.  The fabric is from an antique umbrella.

Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?

We do.  Hurricane Katrina blew us out of the city we love.  I have many things in my house from New Orleans but one area in particular is dedicated to NOLA.

We bought this crazy couch years ago at an antique shop on Decatur St..  I think it was a movie or theatre prop.  It once graced the entry of our grand apartment in the French Quarter.  It's kind of crumbling (much like New Orleans, even before the storm) but I don't know how I could part with it.

I bought two of these candle holders from a junk shop in the Marginy.  Only one has survived - it still gets lots of use.

A collection of New Orleans memorabilia.

My husband and I have been thinking about buying an RV.  Unfortunately, the ones that we like are not very practical...

I'm pretty much a magazine freak.  I've probably read every issue of Vogue published since I was 15 years old - and that's quite a few issues, let me tell you!

I live with mountains of decorating magazines at all times.  I have piles of inspiration journals filled with years of magazine clippings.

"Where Women Create" is perhaps the greatest magazine of all time.  The latest issue is so fabulous I don't even know where to start - just buy it!

When I was a little girl, I totally adored pink houses.  Now, although my house is painted a more 'sensible' color,  I do have a neighbour after my own heart:

Love it!

Start with some vintage frames...

Transform any thrift store coffee table - really!

A chic accent...
Spray paint works wonders!

Don't stop paintin'!

Years ago, when Helen Gurley Brown was the editor of Cosmopolitan magazine she used to write a column of 'Why don't you's?'.  Hers were:  Why don't you...have a bath in champagne?  Or, Why don't you...have an affair at the office?  My less costly and less risky 'Why don't you?' for today is:  Why don't you...frame something that is not a picture?

A fabulous scarf

Creative jewelry display

Swatches of gorgeous barkcloth

Babylon Sisters' sister bought a new sofa today at Ikea.  A nice comfy blank slate!  So, the question is, what throw cushions to make?

Fun versions of the Union Jack.

A riot of color!

English country garden.

T-shirts you can't part with.

Can We Do It? Yes, We Can!

Here are some things I know you can make because you're so talented...

This designer 'statement necklace' costs about $1000.00.  Are you kidding me? - here's what I'm thinking:
                        black satin ribbon
                        black satin fabric
                        good iron-on interfacing
hammer your own grommets ( at Micheal's or JoAnne's, don't worry!)
collection of vintage gorgeous things (our speciality!)
                         we pretty much rock.

All of you knitty-felty girls will have no problem with this one.  What are you waiting for?  Just do it.

Embellish those vintage clutch purses!  They're all over Etsy.  Very elegant but you need to make it your own.

Ok, I'm obsessed with cuffs.  My tattoo is on my wrist - I wear mountains of bracelets - I don't know what it is - some kind of Wonder Woman power thing.  Anyway, this is a fabulous example and I have a huge box of things collected to make cuffs.  When I bust out at my Etsy shop, I'll let you know!

Well, maybe we can't ALL do this but you stylish Northern girls, get at it!
